Vans’ Camp, an historic California vacation home built during the Wrigly era, is now available for the first time on a limited basis for one-week summer rentals and off-season 3-5 day rentals.
The owners intend to share Vans’ Camp with a few select families who will consider making an annual summer week at Vans’ Camp part of their own valued traditions.
The family undertook a fourteen-month renovation to reconstruct and fully modernize the kitchen, bathrooms, and home systems, all with painstaking attention to the home’s architecture and period detail. Since then, Vans’ Camp has been immaculately maintained.
Most “vacation rentals” on Catalina Island are built on very small lots that were originally sold to accommodate seasonal camping tents, not permanent structures. While the rows of tiny houses lend significant charm of the town of Avalon, Vans’ Camp is one of only a handful of island homes of luxurious size, and one of the only homes with a yard and exterior dining deck. Vans' Camp is uniquely able to provide a truly comfortable retreat experience for a large or extended family.
Vans' Camp has been furnished with the same care demonstrated in its renovation, featuring pre-war Catalina Pottery manufactured on the island, original oil paintings depicting island scenes, and restored fixtures and furniture built specifically for the home more than ninety years ago, such as the unique indoor "bench swings."
